Before I get into the point of this post, I want to take the time to share what I am thankful for today:
1. My health - It's amazing the things I have been able to do with the health I have been given
2. Friends - it's lonely without them and I need to be around them even more. This includes Bonita.
3. The work I do - I love my job. All of it. Simple as that.
Ok, now for the story that made me arrive at what I am thankful for.
Today started out pretty shitty.
I woke up after another night of too little sleep and could hardly breath due to a rib that turned out to be slightly out of place. In addition, me knee was having some serious issues that kept me from working out in the gym or running or really anything out of fear that it was seriously messed up this time. If there is anything that puts me in a bad mood, it is my body not being able to do the things I want to do and should be able to do.
Anyways, I arrive and the exam begins. "Try and squat and show me what happens." I squat slowly and basically fall to the ground from my knee giving way due to the pain. "Ooh thats not good Miles. Does this hurt? This? What about this? Does it hurt when you stand, sit, turn...." All the ligaments are good. Meniscus maybe? (i.e. surgery) So, he proceeds to have me stand while forcing the lower portion of my lower limb into alignment manually and then tells me to try and squat.
OH MY GOD!! No pain, no discomfort of any sort!!
And it's a good thing I was healed because knowing me, I would have ran the next day anyway, pain or not. Especially after I was sent a blog post from a great friend and motivator about a girl who should not have lived, let alone be running again and was now finishing marathons even after having several fingers and toes removed. (and yes, I know the reason was not to tell me to suck it up)
So, moral of this post, be thankful. Be thankful for the body you have even when it's not 100%. Be thankful for the friends that support and motivate you when you are not 100%. Be thankful for all life has to offer because you don't want the other option.
